Astronomy Night Walk
A guided evening walk where the landscape becomes an observatory. Learn to read the sky, observe stars and galaxies, photograph the Milky Way with your phone and discover how artificial light changes the night around us.
A slow journey from the illuminated world into the natural night — part guided sky tour, part outdoor science experience and part conversation about how we can protect darkness.
We begin near the station and gradually leave brighter streets behind. The changing view makes dark adaptation something you experience directly, not just a concept you hear about.
With two guides, the group learns to identify key directions, recognise patterns and understand what is visible above Mersch that evening. Binoculars and a digital telescope reveal details that our eyes alone can miss, turning faint points and patches of light into real astronomical objects.
We compare brighter and darker parts of the route and explore how unnecessary artificial light affects our view of the universe, wildlife and the character of the night landscape.
