What is Shaktipat?
Shaktipat is the sacred transmission of spiritual energy (Shakti – the divine, creative life force of the universe) from a realized spiritual Master to a disciple
This transmission is considered an act of divine grace (anugraha), which initiates or greatly accelerates the seeker’s spiritual awakening and inner transformation.
Shaktipat can be transmitted in various ways:
- By touch (Sparsha Diksha) – often at the Third Eye or root chakra
- By word or mantra (Mantra Diksha)
- By gaze (Chakshushi Diksha)
- By pure intention (Sankalpa Diksha) – even from a distance
What happens during Shaktipat?
The primary effect of Shaktipat is the awakening of the Kundalini energy within the seeker.
Kundalini is the dormant spiritual power resting at the base of the spine, waiting to rise through the central channel (Sushumna Nadi) and activate the chakras.
As this awakening unfolds, you may experience:
