The "Vëlosummer 2020" is a joint initiative of the General Directorate for Tourism of the Ministry of the Economy and the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works. In collaboration with several municipalities, a number of roads throughout the country will be closed to car traffic from 1st August onwards. This is a special occasion to enjoy leisurely rides on traffic-free roads. Routes will be open to the public either on weekends, or even throughout the whole month of August.
During the “Vëlosummer” it is important to remember that:
(1) closed roads will remain accessible to residents as well as public transport; and traffic regulations will remain in force at all times;
(2) bicycles can only be stored in designated storage areas on trains and buses;
(3) The routes of the “Vëlosummer” are not signposted as such.
