06: Hollenfels - Larochette

Description of the trail

The routes of the youth hostels lead over different hiking paths with varied signposts. When the path marking changes, a sign indicates the direction of the route. We start at the youth hostel Hollenfels and follow the youth hostels trail. We cross the river Eisch in the ‘Valley of the seven castles’. We arrive at the plateau and follow the CFL trail at ‘Claushaff’. We continue on this trail and arrive at the grottos of ‘Mamerlayen’. We then follow the path until we arrive at the train station of Mersch. This is where the CFL trail ends. We now follow the national hiking trail ‘sentier de la Petite Suisse ’, which leads us steep uphill and then through the spectacular rock formations of the ‘Nommerlayen’. At the end of this trail, we follow the ‘Extra Tour A’ of the well-known Mullerthal Trail and then again the ‘sentier de la Petite Suisse ’ to the village centre of Larochette. We now continue on the youth hostels trail to the hostel, located at ‘Osterbour’, at the village exit in direction of Medernach.
